Spring Summer Moodboard

Just a quick post with a photo of a mood board I made to let you know that I am alive and well and that the exams haven't killed me (yet...)
I have lost my voice and have been living on soothers and cups of tea for the past 2 days but still, you get the idea. 6 exams down and 11 to go so once they have all finished expect much more posts to make up for my current absence.

Anyway, back to my moodboard. It is a spring/summer themed, taken by my beautiful Canon 1000D and consists of a few things that are currently inspiring me.
From top left clockwise:
Red topshop heart shaped clutch, designer dress (any idea who designed it? I stupidly cut off the label when I cut it out of Grazia) Pastel coloured nails, feather skirt from topshop, vintage photo, Miss Dior advert shot by Tim Walker, Vivienne Westwood for Melissa heels, 50's advert cut out of a Guardian supplement, my fan I got out of a Christmas cracker, lace print nails, Emma Cook for topshop heels, makeup print clutch bag, Gemma Ward photo from Vogue, Luella SS2010 collection, Juicy Couture advert (LOVE the pink zebra) and floral Nike dunks.

Oh and a parcel arrived for me yesterday from Conde Nast...
Yes that's right I got the first of my years subscription to Vogue. Still buzzing that one of those beauties will land on my humble doorstep every single month.

Hope your all having an amazing bank holiday weekend. You doing anything exciting?
I am just off to watch Dr Who now :)

Hugs and kisses,

"If you never do anything, you never become anyone."

As you already know, I am a firm believer that you should always read the book before seeing the film, so I read Lynne Barbers memoirs before seeing the multi award winning film. I devoured the book in one day and the film is now in my top 10 favourite films list. They are both simply brilliant.
Carey Mulligan and Peter Sarsgaard

Nick Hornby did an amazing job turning the memoirs into a screen play and transforming Lynne into the wonderful character Jenny, who Carey Mulligan plays so convincingly you cannot help but fall in love with her when you watch it.
It's the story of the clever school girl Jenny and her dilemma as she has to choose between going to Oxford University or marrying a charismatic older man, who whisks her away to Paris and introduces her to his glamorous friends. But he is not all as he seems...

Rosamund Pike and Dominic Cooper

I cried and laughed out loud at both the book and the film.
They made me want to visit Paris and go to fun parties and meet beautiful people and wear gorgeous clothes (the costumes in the film are breathtaking)
But of course even more than that watching and reading An Education just backs up my ambition to go to Oxford University, study English Literature and ride around on a beautiful bicycle- preferably this Pashley.
Clearly I cannot rave about how much I love the film enough, so go and read it and see it ok? Only then you will understand how much I love it.
Also Carey Mulligan wore this amazing Prada dress to the Oscars. Check out the little knives and forks and scissors! Unbelievably awesome, right?
Oh and did you know that she's going out with Shia Labeouf? She is one lucky lady.

I try to be like Grace Kelly, but all her looks were too sad

Every time I open a magazine at the moment her beautiful face is staring back at me from one page or another. Enthralled, I look at the caption explaining that there is soon to be a new exhibit showing her enitre wardrobe at the V&A in London.

Hopefully I will be able to visit in the summer holidays (the exhibit is showing from the 17th of April to the 26th of September) and see her beautiful collection of Balanciaga gowns and YSL and Dior couture. But till then I will have to satifsy my current Grace Kelly obsession by looking at stunning photos of her (the above is a photograph from her in the 1956 film 'High Society')

There is no doubt she was an icon, famous for her calm and collected persona and pristine appearance. That she was well dressed goes without saying; she was never a hair out of place.

What if nothing exists and we're all in somebody's dream?

A photo heavy post of all the things that are inspiring me at the moment.
I saw this idea on Johanna's amazing blog crookedzone and after reading it realised all the things I currently love are the complete opposite of hers.
She is inspired by Johnny Rotten, punk, heroin chic and giant Vivienne Westwood-like red coats at the moment whereas I am obsessed with fairy tales, bows, pastel colours, ballerinas and gowns.
This is what I love most about blogging; being inspired by others and realising what inspires you too.

Danny Roberts illustration from The Dream Walking Society, Degas Ballerina painting, Christopher Kane SS2010 collection, The Almond Blossom Fairy illustration, Fifi Lapin, The Cherry Blossom Girl, Karlie Kloss in US Vogue, Chanel nail varnish from We Heart It, John Rocha collection, Chanel perfume photo from We Heart It, Chanel Iman editorial (anyone know where from? Pop?) Lovely photo from We Heart ItLara Stone, in W magazine I think, Another beauty from We Heart It, Sandra Suy illustration, Kate Moss drawing from Danny Roberts, The Chanel tutu designed by Karl, Alexa Chung (from Harpers Bazaar?) Shoes and cakes, my favourite things, from Vogue, And last two images from We Heart it (what would I do without this site, eh?)
Keep dreaming,

Current Style Inspiration- Pile on the jewellery

There is the famous fashion quote from Coco Chanel, "When accessorizing always take off the last thing you put on" as well as the timeless dictum "less is more."
But my current style inspiration are people who are confident and clever enough to ignore these and do their own thing. So layer up loads of bracelets on one arm, put on all your rings or all your watches at once and wear them loud and proud.

1.Cobra Snake. 2. Unknown source of an Olsen. 3. Unknown source. 4. From Rachel Zoe's book The A-Z Of Style. 5. Chanel lovliness from an unknown source. 6. Also unknown. If you know the source of any of these gorgeous photographs please comment or email me and let me know.

Listening to: Lemar - The way love goes.

It's the weekend! What have you all done today?
I've been shopping! I'll do a post on my finds later this week!
Earlier, I looked at my Art Prep book blankly, I realised I had no inspiration to help me fill it... I ended up stumbling across these beautiful images on tumblr. So I thought I would share these with you!

Alexander McQueen ‘Alien’ Shoes

My initial reaction when I saw these Alexander McQueen shoes from his SS 2010 collection was “Woah.”
T
hen “Omg how did he make them and the models get their feet into them?”
And finally *shrugs* "Ok, well McQueen is a genius” but never for a second did I think “I must have though shoes in my life now. I want/need/have to have them.”
Sure if I stumbled across them in a shoe shop I would try them on for a laugh but I would never ever actually buy them.
Also I have no idea how much they cost but seeing as they are designer and the hottest heels to be seen in right now I am guessing they are just a teensy bit out of my budget.
So I am wondering who is actually going to buy them?
Apart from Lady Gaga who wore them in her ‘Bad Romance’ video and Daphe Guiness who was the first celebrity to wear them on the red carpet I can’t think of anyone who would seriously buy these insane (yet undeniably brilliant) shoes.

What do you think? If you had that much money would you buy them?
