Bappi Lahiri takes digs at AR Rahman!

Music composer Bappi Lahiri has all the reasons to celebrate but that hasn’t stopped him from taking digs at music maestro AR Rahman. Bappi says his international success is self made, unlike Rahman. Bappi will be on the jury for the 2012 Grammy awards, making him the first Indian to have got the honour.

He had sent his album World Peace and Harmony with saxaphone player Gerald Albright, for the Grammys this year, and although it made it to top 50, it didn’t get selected in the top 5 nominations. “See, I don’t have the backing of a producer like Danny Boyle. When you are on your own, it is difficult for an Indian to win,” he says, adding, “My songs Jimmy jimmy and Kaliyon Ka Chaman are well recognised. In 1988, my song Habiba was the first to be on the UK billboard. I got Samantha Fox to India, and when Michael Jackson came to India, he said that he had heard my song Disco Dancer.”

Despite his international recognition, Bappi says, unlike Oscar-winner Rahman, he never felt the need to leave India. “I love my country way too much. Main Rahman ki tarah sab kucch chhod ke LA mein nahi baith sakta. I can do all international collaborations from here. I am talking to MIA and Rihanna on songs that I am composing,” says Bappi.

About his style at the Grammys, the composer says that he will stick to his “bling bling Bappi” image. “That’s my style. But I’ll wear a three piece suit,” he adds.

Furious about the reports, Kat tells us, "This is absolute rubbish and a lie. If anyone was there, it would have been reported immediately and not 10 days later." Remaining tight-lipped about her equation with Ranbir, 26-year-old Kat is pragmatic when it comes to happily ever afters. "Do I see myself married in two years? I don’t really know. I think by the time I’m around 33, I should be having kids. But you can’t plan it. I do want to get Katrinamarried, but do I want to have a child grow up without a father? No. I think you need more security," says the actor in an interview in the February issue of men’s magazine, GQ. Pooja Batra files for divorce from her LA-based husband

Pooja Batra has filed for a divorce from Los Angeles-based orthopedic surgeon Dr Sonu Ahluwalia, whom she married over eight years ago.
Over the last couple of years, Batra has been making frequent trips to India, giving rise to speculation that there was trouble brewing in the marriage.

Rahman loses out the coveted globe at the 68th annual Golden Globe Awards…

Twin Oscar winner A R Rahman failed to grab the coveted globe at the 68th annual Golden Globe Awards in Beverly Hills on Sunday night  .

Nominated in the Original Score category for his music in director Danny Boyle’s 127 Hours, Rahman lost to Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, composers of the music in The Social Network.

Rahman had high hopes as just the previous day he was awarded the best original song trophy at the 16th Critics’ Choice Awards for his number ‘If I Rise’ from the same film.

Rahman won his first Golden Globe award for Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire in 2009. That was the one and only Golden Globe award till date.

Rahman is also nominated for the Oscars for his song ‘If I Rise’. The ceremony will be held at the end of February.

Says a source, “Vipul spoke to Aishwarya about being cast opposite Abhishek. But she thinks she can’t add anything to the project. In fact, Aishwarya suggested that Vipul cast Katrina instead.
Vipul however denies having approached Aishwarya, “So far we haven’t really discussed the project.”

If buzz is to be believed, it is said that Abhishek and Aishwarya have come to a mutual decision that the duo will star together only if a project has something interesting, exciting and novel to do. Says the source, “They don’t want to give the audience too much of themselves.”
